Comprehensive Sexual Health
Senate Bill 5395 passed by Legislature and Voters in 2020 requires all public schools to provide comprehensive sexual health education.
Depending on your student's grade level, topics may include:
HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STDs)
Decision Making
Consent and bystander roles
The Summit Valley School District acknowledges that parents/guardians are the primary sexual health educators for their child/children and we are committed to partnering with you to provide supplementary resources to support you in this role.
Parents/guardians have the option of excluding their child from any portion of sexual health education instruction if it is in conflict with conscience, moral, or religious beliefs. If this is the case with your child, please fill out the exclusion form mailed home, and turn it in to the school office. Student grades will not be affected regardless of their participation level. Any questions, please call Kristina Allen at 509-935-6362.
